CHICAGO - Just 18 seconds into the second overtime period, Aquinas College (Mich.) senior forward Carlos Martinez intercepted a pass by Saint Xavier University junior keeper Ian Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) and put the ball in the back of the net to give the visiting Saints a 1-0 victory over the Cougars Wednesday afternoon at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. Both teams finished the game with seven shots-on-goal. SXU falls to 2-3 overall with the loss, while Aquinas improves its record to 2-2 on the year.

Offensively, junior forward Zach Kekelik (Merrillville, Ind./Crown Point) and sophomore midfielder Alan Bickel (Aurora, Ill./Northern Illinois/Waubonsie Valley) led the Cougars with each posting two shots-on-goal in the game. Pickett finished with six saves for SXU.

Saint Xavier (2-3 overall) continues its home stand on Saturday, September 13, with a non-conference game against Goshen College (Ind.) at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. The game is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. start.
