Women's Basketball - Sat, Nov. 26, 2005
CHICAGO - Despite 17 points by junior guard Candis Jackson (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young), the No. 21 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team could not pick up its third straight win Saturday falling to NCAA Division I Chicago State University, 88-60, in Chicago. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 3-2 overall.
SXU got off to a slow start and fell behind early trailing 48-19 at halftime. The second half was a different story as Saint Xavier outscored Chicago State, 42-40, after the break. Freshman guard Abiola Amure (Chicago, Ill./St. Scholastica Academy) played well off the bench for SXU scoring 13 points in 19 minutes of play. Rebounding was a problem for Saint Xavier the entire game as CSU pulled down 58 boards to SXU's 30.
Saint Xavier (3-2 overall) returns home on Wednesday, November 30, to face non-conference foe University of Illinois-Springfield at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
