Women's Soccer - Wed, Sep. 10, 2008
Joliet, Ill. - Sophomore defender Andrea Fischer (Lincoln, Neb./Saint Pius X) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 7 when the weekly honor was released by the conference Tuesday. It was the first time this season that the Cougars have had a player receive either the offensive or defensive recognition.

Fischer did all she could to have SXU finish the week with a 1-1 split over its two games. Led by her strong defensive play, the Cougars allowed only one goal in each of the games. Saint Xavier dropped a tough 1-0 contest to Notre Dame College (Ohio) this past Saturday, but came back Sunday to grab a 5-1 home win over Saint Ambrose University (Iowa).

Saint Xavier (1-3-1 overall) heads to Columbia, Ky., this weekend for a pair of games at the Kelme Classic. The Cougars open the event with a 7 p.m. game Friday against the hosts, No. 4 ranked Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.).
