Men's Cross Country - Wed, Aug. 13, 2008
CHICAGO - Matt Rychel, a incoming freshman distance runner from Tinley Park, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's cross country and track programs. Rychel attended Andrew High School in Tinley Park where he ran both cross country and track for the Thunderbolts.
Rychel had an outstanding prep running career at Andrew having been a state finalist in boy's track once and a two-time state finalist in cross country. He plans to pursue a major in accounting this fall at Saint Xavier University.
"Matt is a runner that I have been very impressed with for a long time," said Saint Xavier University men's cross country/track coach Ed McAllister. "He is a no-nonsense, methodical type of athlete, who has phenomenal ability coupled with great desire. I see Matt's future as being greatest in the longer races that college provides. He definitely will make an immediate impact on this young squad."
