Westville, Ind. - Paced by a game-high 18 points from freshman guard Jason Genova (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick), the No. 16 ranked Saint Xavier University men's basketball team picked up a 79-57 non-conference win over Purdue University-North Central (Ind.) Saturday in Westville, Ind. With the win, SXU improves to 8-4 overall and begins a 12-day break after playing seven games over the last 12 days.

Genova finished the game shooting 6-for-11 (55 percent) from the field, including a perfect 3-for-3 clip from three-point range. Other Cougars scoring double figures in Saturday's win included: senior guard Mike Brown (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle) with 16 points, sophomore forward Dan Bolger (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick) with 13, and junior forward James Hoffmann (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) coming off the bench to chip in 10. Bolger was also tough on the boards Saturday finishing with a team-high seven rebounds, while freshman Adam Gregoriou (Burbank, Ill./Brother Rice) tallied six rebounds and a game-high five assists.

SXU came out on fire shooting 65 percent (17-for-26) in the first half to rack up a 48-28 halftime advantage. The Cougars did not shoot as well in the second half (39 percent), but still managed to outscore the Panthers 31-29 after the break. Saint Xavier was dominant on the glass throughout the game out-rebounding Purdue-North Central, 39-22, in the game. PUNC's Chris Williams finished with team-highs of 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Cougars (8-4 overall) return to action on Thursday, December 15, with a non-conference match-up against Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in Whiting, Ind. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
