CHICAGO - Behind 10 points from junior guard Candis Jackson (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young), the No. 20 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team outscored Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), 38-14, in the second half to pick up the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) victory, 83-51, Tuesday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (12-5 overall, 2-0 CCAC) scored 29 of their 83 points off Scarlet Hawk turnovers.
Besides Jackson, three other SXU players scored in double figures in Tuesday's win. Sophomore forward Jackie Heine (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) tallied 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds, while sophomore guard Sarah Wilson (Bloomington, Ind./South) and freshman guard Abiola Amure (Chicago, Ill./St. Scholastica) each tacked on 12 points. Amure also led the Cougars on the boards with a game-high 11 rebounds for a double-double performance. Jackson dished out a game-high seven assists to go along with her game-high 17 points.
Saint Xavier (12-5 overall, 2-0 CCAC) continues its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) schedule on Saturday, January 21, with a road game against Robert Morris College (Ill.). Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
