CHICAGO - Ryanne Swanson, a senior at Jefferson High School in Rockford, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. She was a forward and defender during her prep career at Jefferson under Steve Hoover and Mark Kiltz.
Swanson is the daughter of Brian and Laura Makela, also of Rockford. She is planning to pursue a degree in elementary education at Saint Xavier University. Swanson is projected to continue play at both the forward and defender spots this fall for the Cougars.
"Ryanne is a very hard-working and physical player with a great upside," said SXU women's soccer coach Derek Begich. "She has just recovered from an injury and is working hard to back to her full potential. Her ability to play anywhere on the field will fill some voids we lost to graduation. I am very excited to have Ryanne a part of our university."
