CHICAGO - Kelly Steinhaus, a senior forward from Lemont High School in Lemont, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. She was coached by Rick Prangen during her prep career for the Indians of Lemont.
Steinhaus is the daughter of Richard and Sandi Steinhaus of Lemont. She plans to pursue a degree in secondary education next year at Saint Xavier University. Last season, Saint Xavier finished with an overall record of 19-4-0 (a new school record) and a No. 8 national ranking in the NAIA. The Cougars also qualified for the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in the program's 10-year history.
"I am so excited to have Kelly as part of our program," said Saint Xavier University women's soccer coach Derek Begich. "She is a strong flank player with great speed and excellent timing anticipation to read the game. Kelly is a very quality individual both on and off the field. Not only does she have great pace, her non-stop energy helps her aggressive style of play."
