CHICAGO - Senior forward Jabari Saunders (Joliet, Ill./Township West) and freshman guard Jason Genova (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick) combined for 36 points and 19 rebounds to lead No. 25 ranked Saint Xavier University to a 81-50 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) road win over Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in men's basketball action Saturday at the Keatings Center in Chicago. In addition, senior guard Jason Reiter (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) also had a big game for the Cougars (18-8 overall/6-2 CCAC) with 15 points and three rebounds.
SXU shot an impressive 57 percent (30-of-53) from the field in the game and built a 31-18 halftime lead. Saunders and Genova each finished with a team-high 18 points, while Saunders also led the Cougars on the boards with a game-high 10 rebounds and in assists with six. Saint Xavier outrebounded the Scarlet Hawks, 33-19, in the game.
The Cougars (18-8 overall/6-2 CCAC) continue their season with a much-anticipated conference home game on Wednesday, February 15, against No. 2 ranked Robert Morris College (Ill.). Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Saint Xavier is a perfect 12-0 in games played at the Shannon Center this season.
