CHICAGO - Senior forward and 2006 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Year Jabari Saunders (Joliet, Ill./Township West) finished with 29 points and 14 rebounds, but it was not enough as No. 3 seed Saint Xavier University (Ill.) fell to No. 3 ranked and No. 2 seeded Robert Morris College (Ill.), 82-66, Thursday in semifinals action of the CCAC Tournament at the Gentile Center in Chicago. The Cougars fall to 21-11 overall with the loss and now wait to see if they will receive an at-large bid to participate in the 2006 NAIA National Tournament, which begins on March 15.
Senior guard Jason Reiter (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) also scored in double figures for SXU with 11 points, while freshman forward Adam Gregoriou (Burbank, Ill./Brother Rice) chipped in eight points. Saint Xavier shot 53 percent (27-of-51) from the field in the game. SXU (21-11 overall/8-4 CCAC) will wait to see if its 2005-06 season will continue when the NAIA releases its 2006 NAIA Tournament qualifiers some time next week.
