CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University sophomore forward Angie Holmes (Shorewood, Ill./Providence Catholic) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week Tuesday after a stellar offensive outing in the Cougars' two wins last week. Holmes finished with three goals and an assist in leading SXU to a 2-0 record on the week, including a 1-0 victory over Trinity Christian College (Ill.) Saturday in the quarterfinals of the CCAC Tournament.
Currently, Holmes is second on the team in both goals (11) and points scored (26). She scored two goals and an assist in SXU's 7-0 regular season finale win over CCAC foe Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) last Tuesday and scored the lone goal in Saint Xavier's 1-0 quarterfinals win over TCC Saturday. The Cougars are 13-5-1 overall and entered the CCAC Tournament with the No. 4 seed.
Saint Xavier now faces No. 1 seed Robert Morris College (Ill.) on Wednesday, October 27, at the University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) soccer field for a CCAC semi-final match-up. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
