CHICAGO, Ill. – Saint Xavier put away one goal in both halves of play Saturday afternoon, securing a 2-0 home victory over Robert Morris at Deaton Field.

Mike McLaughlin (St. Laurence HS / Hickory Hills, Ill.) scored his first goal of the year to put the Cougars (6-6, 3-3 CCAC) in front, off of a deflected corner kick in the 16th minute. Despite being out-shot 9-1 in the first half by the Eagles (2-8, 1-5 CCAC), Saint Xavier would take their 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Cougars would extend their lead and put the match away in the 79th minute, on David Rebollar (Rock Valley CC / Rockford, Ill.)'s fifth goal of the season. Rebollar made a run with the ball down the left sideline, then broke inside after clearing the defense to set up his seventh career goal.

Goalkeeper Frank Valle (McHenry Community HS / McHenry, Ill.) earned the shutout, moving into a tie atop the CCAC leaderboard with four clean sheets on the season.

Saint Xavier will now prepare for their next match, a visit to Olivet Nazarene on Saturday, October 14. Kickoff against the Tigers is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
