DAVENPORT, Iowa – Saint Xavier volleyball wrapped up a perfect 3-0 weekend at the first CCAC Crossover, rolling to a straight set win over Calumet St. Joseph 25-6, 25-9, 25-20 on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars (21-3, 7-1 CCAC) claimed their 11th consecutive win with the sweep, having dropped just three sets throughout the streak.

A balanced attack on Saturday saw three players recorded a team-leading seven kills, in Alex Lambros (Oak Forest HS / Oak Forest, Ill.), Helena Atton (Herbert Henry Dow HS / Midland, Mich.), and Jessica Belseth (Eisenhower HS / Merionette Park, Ill.), while Bridget Krasowski (St. Joseph's [Ind.] / Oak Lawn, Ill.) picked up six kills as well. Setter Courtney Joyce (Western Illinois / Chicago, Ill.) tallied 23 assists and a team-hihg six digs in the win.

SXU would lead the first two sets wire-to-wire, putting together seven-point rallies in both games. The Crimson Wave (1-12, 0-7 CCAC) would fight to stay alive in game three, using a 5-1 run to claim an 18-15 advantage in a set that saw five lead changes between the two sides. Trailing 20-17, the Cougars fired off eight straight points, including five service aces from Belseth, to come back for the five-point win.

The Cougars return home this Tuesday night, when they host a rematch with St. Ambrose, inside the Shannon Center at 7:00 p.m.
