The Cougars (2-6-3, 2-2-1 CCAC) out-shot the visitors 10-7, with five shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the next throughout the first 90 minutes of play. Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Smialek (Westminster College / Chicago, Ill.) kept SXU in the match, making four saves.

Just four minutes into the first overtime session, the Cougars won a corner kick, just their fourth of the night. Dana Hamdan (Universal HS / Orland Park, Ill.) collected the loose ball after the corner, and lofted the pass to the far post, where Gilman headed the ball home.

Gilman finished with three shots overall, along with Hannah Bresnner for the team lead. All three shots were on-target for Gilman, while three other players each had one shot on goal.

The Cougars are back in action this Saturday, October 7, when they host Robert Morris. Kickoff with the Eagles from Deaton Field is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
