HOMEWOOD, Ill. - Saint Xavier women's tied for the top spot on the leaderboard on Monday, matching Judson but falling in a tiebreaker at the Troll Classic, hosted at Calumet Country Club. On the men's side, the Cougars placed third in the eight-team field.

SXU shot a team score of 396 in the single-round tournament, matching the Eagles at 112-over par. The men's team shot a 315 (+31), just a single stroke behind Indiana-South Bend for second place, and 12 strokes off the winners Governors State.

Individually, Matt Clark (Nazareth Academy / LaGrange, Ill.) and Andrea Strohmaier (Ashford [Iowa] / Genoa, Ill.) brought home second-place individual finishes; Clark shot a season-best 73 (+2) to finish two strokes behind the leader, matching the Cougars' lowest single-round score of the season. Strohmaier was one of just two golfers on the women's side to break 90, shooting an 89 (+18) to finish five strokes back of the winner.

Abigail Wischmann (Lawrence North HS / Indianapolis, Ind.) finished 6th overall with a score of 95 (+24), and Lucy Maverick (Kokomo HS / Kokomo, Ind.) came in under triple digits with a 99 (+28) to finish in a tie for 10th. Aine McKillop (Mother McAuley HS / Chicago, Ill.) shot a 113 (+42) to place 20th, and Abigail Golden (Richards HS / Oak Lawn, Ill.) posted a 124 (+53) in her first tournament of the season to finish 25th.

Alec Martinez (Moraine Valley CC / Orland Park, Ill.) broke 80 for the third consecutive round, shooting a 79 (+8) to finish tied for 12th, while Patrick Mangawang (Our Lady of Mercy Catholic HS / Peachtree City, Ga.) came in one stroke behind with an 80 (+9), finishing tied for 16th. Kristopher Boddie (Ocoee HS / Ocoee, Fla.) placed T-25th with an 83 (+12), and Jeremiah Guernsey (Dowagiac Union HS / Dowagiac, Mich.) shot 90 (+19) to finish T-42nd.

The Cougars have a quick turnaround, as they prepare for their next tournament on Wednesday and Thursday, October 4-5. SXU will compete at the Mike Lalalef Memorial Invite, at White Hawk Country Club in Crown Point, Ind.
