LAFAYETTE, Ind. - In the first official competition in program history, Saint Xavier bowling put in a solid performances, finishing 14th out of 20 programs in the men's tournament, and 9th of 13 programs on the women's side.

During the individual competition on Saturday, freshman Ryan Koesema (Minooka HS / Joliet, Ill.) led the way, with an average score of 163.4 over five games and a high of 219 in his second game. Monica Colon (Lockport Township HS / Romeoville, Ill.) averaged 162.6 to lead the women, with a high score of 198 in game three.

Jon Studer (Minooka HS / Minooka, Ill.)'s 234 in game one was the best single-game score for the Cougar men, while Stephanie Gasca (Oak Lawn Community HS / Hometown, Ill.) bowled a 209 in the second of her three games for the top women's score.

SXU finished day one with a team score of 4,245 over 25 games (169.8 average) to place 15th in the men's competition. The women's score of 4,022 (160.9 average) put the Cougars in 7th place at the end of play on Saturday.

On Sunday, both teams played 16 Baker games, in which a five-bowler team alternates frames. The women posted an average of 158.7, while the men finished with 167.0, as the Cougars placed 10th and 14th, respectively.

Saint Xavier are back in action this weekend, when they compete at the 47th Midwest Collegiate Tournament, hosted at the AMF Bolero in Wauwatosa, Wisc. on October 7-8.
