ELGIN, Ill. – With the home team getting off to a fast start, Saint Xavier dropped their CCAC match on Saturday afternoon, 3-1 to the host Judson Eagles.

The Cougars (1-6-3, 1-2-1 CCAC) fell behind early, as Judson put away their first goal in just the third minute of the match, then earned a penalty kick in the 37th minute to claim a 2-0 lead at the halftime break.

Brooke Mejdrich (Lincoln-Way Central HS / New Lenox, Ill.) put SXU on the board with her second goal of the season, coming in the 67th minute. After a shot on goal by Alyssa Gilman (Oak Forest HS / Oak Forest, Ill.) that could have tied the score for the Cougars, Judson put the match out of reach with a goal in the 88th minute to go ahead 3-1.

Five different Cougars finished with one shot on goal, while Hannah Bressner (Heartland CC / Streator, Ill.) was credited with a team-high two shots overall. Goalkeeper Carly Bledsoe (Father Ryan HS / Franklin, Tenn.) made five saves on the day.

The Cougars are back in action on Wednesday, October 4, when they host Calumet St. Joseph at Deaton Field. Kickoff against the Crimson Wave is set for 6:00 p.m.
