CHICAGO, Ill. - For the third straight week, Saint Xavier football picked up two more weekly Mid-States Football Association honors, as senior running back Mike Ivlow (Joliet Catholic HS / Channahon, Ill.), and senior kicker Abdul Mahdi (Bogan HS / Chicago, Ill.) were named Midwest League Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, released by the league office Monday morning.

Ivlow helped fuel the 13th-ranked Cougars' attack in Saturday's 45-0 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville. The senior tallied a career-high 189 rushing yards, the third-most by any SXU rusher in program history. In the third quarter, his 98-yard TD run went down as not only the longest run in the NAIA this season, but the longest rush ever in the 25 years of Cougar football.

Mahdi earned his second MSFA Player of the Week award of the season, and 10th of his career, going a perfect 6-for-6 on extra points while also converting a 28-yard field goal to finish the night with nine points. The senior leads the MSFA and ranks 9th among NAIA kickers with an average of 7.7 points per game. Mahdi also averaged 62.9 yards on eight kickoffs, with three touchbacks.

SXU now has a combined six Player of the Week awards in the first three weeks of the season, the most ever for any MSFA program by this point of the year, in either Midwest or Mideast Leagues.

Saint Xavier look to remain unbeaten in 2017 next Saturday, when they hit the road and take on No. 1 St. Francis (Ind.). Kickoff from Fort Wayne is set for 5:00 p.m. CDT.
