KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Saint Xavier football improved 11 spots in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll, climbing to No. 13 in the national rankings announced Monday.

NAIA Football Coaches' Poll - Sept. 11

The 11-place jump is the largest improvement between polls in program history, as the Cougars (2-0) entered the preseason ranked No. 23 before earning wins over No. 5 Marian (Ind.) on Aug. 31, and Missouri Baptist last Saturday. The No. 13 spot is the highest for the team in almost exactly one year, since SXU was ranked 9th on Sept. 12 of last season.

The Cougars are the third-highest ranked team in the MSFA, trailing No. 1 St. Francis (Ind.) and No. 8 Marian. SXU is the top program in the MIdwest League, while St. Ambrose makes their season debut in the poll at No. 23.

Saint Xavier will look to improve a few spots higher after hosting Lindenwood-Belleville this Saturday. Kickoff in the MSFA Crossover game is set for 6:00 p.m. at Deaton Field.
