The Cougars (3-3) struggled to generate many offensive chances, taking seven shots in the match but none on goal. Still, the SXU defense held strong, behind senior keeper Frank Valle (SR/McHenry, Ill.)'s four saves. After earning a corner kick from a blocked shot attempt, the Racers (1-1-1) found the back of the net to earn their first win of the year.

Danny Lopez (JR/Chicago, Ill.) and Ricardo Aldape (JR/Chicago Heights, Ill.) led the Cougars with two shots taken, as five players had a crack at goal throughout the match.

The Cougars will now prepare for the CCAC opener, set for Tuesday, September 19 at Holy Cross. Kickoff against the Saints is set for 3:00 p.m.
