Junior midfielder Danny Lopez (JR/Chicago, Ill.) would score the game-winner, converting on a rebound from a saved penalty shot just seconds earlier. The goal was Lopez' first this season, and seventh of his SXU career.

The Lynx (0-1) would out-shoot Saint Xavier (2-1), 13-9 overall, and had eight corner kicks to the Cougars' one, but senior goalkeeper Frank Valle (SR/McHenry, Ill.) made seven saves to keep the clean sheet intact. With his second consecutive shutout, Valle has now gone over 190 minutes in goal without surrendering a score.

Lopez finished with a team-high four shots and two shots on goal in the win, while junior forward Orlando Tapia (JR/Crystal Lake, Ill.) fired three shots with one on target.

The Cougars now prepare to hit the road for their lone match next week, set for Wednesday, August 30 at Aquinas (Mich.). Kickoff against the Saints from Grand Rapids is set for 6:00 p.m.
