Joliet, Ill. – Junior Ellie Willging (Freeport, Ill./Freeport) broke the school and conference records by winning the 10K (10,000 meters) run with an automatic national qualifying time of 36:16.98 to highlight a great weekend for the Saint Xavier University women's track & field team at the 2017 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Outdoor Championships at Joliet Memorial Stadium in Joliet, Ill.  The Cougars had several all-conference or personal-best performances at the meet and finished sixth overall in the 10-team event with 36 points.  SXU also got all-conference performances from junior Rachal Brooks (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) in the 200-meter dash as well as the 4x800 relay team made up of Brooks, senior Nicole Watkins (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett), freshman Grace Maletich (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove North) and sophomore Deandra Stokes (Chicago, Ill./Thornwood).

Brooks captured third place overall in the 200-meter dash to earn her all-conference honor with a time of 26.00 seconds.  The 4x800 meter relay team also took third place in the field to net all-conference recognition with a time of 9:38.59.  In addition, the squad had quite a few of its athletes post personal-best times at the conference meet.  Senior Nicole Maier (Burbank, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Reavis) recorded one of those in the 10K at 39:51.16 to finish in sixth place overall.  Stokes also set a new personal-best time of 4:58.29 in the 1500 meter run for eighth place.  In the 5K (5,000 meters) run, freshman Lorena Garcia (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) and junior Jocelyn Camacho (Summit, Ill./Argo Community) both had personal-best times as well at 19:53.44 and 20:42.25, respectively.

Saint Xavier heads to Naperville, Ill., on Thursday, May 11, to wrap up its outdoor regular season slate at the two-day Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College (Ill.).  The meet kicks off at 11 a.m. Thursday at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium in Naperville.
