Romeoville, Ill. – Taking three of the top four spots in the 3K run (3,000 meters) as one of the biggest highlights, the Saint Xavier University women's track and field team boasted a number of solid performances in a variety of events Tuesday night at the Lewis University Twilight in Romeoville, Ill.  Senior Ellie Willging (Freeport, Ill./UIC/Freeport) won the 3K with a time of 10:04.18, while senior Nicole Maier (Burbank, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Reavis) and junior Sierra Downey (Stickney, Ill./Morton College/Morton West) took third (11:03.07) and fourth (11:17.38) place, respectively.  Other key performances included:  sophomore Jess Wittmayer (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) winning the 3,000 meter steeplechase (12:58.59), junior Rachal Brooks (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) claiming second in the 200 meter dash (26.08), sophomore Deandra Stokes (Chicago, Ill./Thornwood) earning fourth in the 1500 meter run (5:03.77) and sophomore Alex Lambros (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) taking fifth and setting a new school record and personal best mark in the triple jump (5.33 meters).  

"This was a perfect team performance to help get us ready for next week's conference championships," said Saint Xavier University women's track & field coach Lisa Ebel.  "I feel like we have progressed nicely throughout the outdoor season and will be ready to showcase what our team is capable of at conference."

Saint Xavier gets ready for the 2017 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Outdoor Championships hosted by University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Friday and Saturday, May 5 and 6.  The meet is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. each day at Joliet Memorial Stadium in Joliet, Ill.
