Lisle, Ill. – The Saint Xavier University women's track and field team had plenty of big performances to boast about over the last two weekends with the squad competing at a pair of meets hosted by Benedictine University, the NCAA vs. NAIA Challenge and the Benedictine Eagle Relays. Highlights included: a personal-best time of 25.89 seconds in the 200 meter dash by junior Rachal Brooks (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley), sophomore Deandra Stokes (Chicago, Ill./Thornwood) winning her heat in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:03, a personal-best time of 12:11.23 by junior Jocelyn Camacho (Summit, Ill./Argo Community) in the 3000 meter run, and great times of 40:11.24 and 40:30.19 by senior Nicole Maier (Burbank, Ill./Olivet Nazarene/Reavis) and junior Sierra Downey (Stickney, Ill./Morton College/Morton West) in the 10,000 meter run, respectively. Brooks, senior Nicole Watkins (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett), freshman Annette Sanchez (Berwyn, Ill./Morton West) and Stokes also ran well in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:47.25.
"It was a very productive stretch for our team over the last two meets at Benedictine," said Saint Xavier University women's track & field coach Lisa Ebel. "We had a lot of our runners turn in personal-best times and that is always encouraging. It really gives me a lot of optimism as we progress further into the outdoor season."
Saint Xavier heads to Romeoville, Ill., on Tuesday, April 25, to compete in the Lewis University Twilight. The meet is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. at Lewis Stadium.
