CHICAGO – Saint Xavier University freshman Amanda Ruskowsky (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Player of the Week Thursday in the first installment of the weekly award for the 2017 season. Ruskowsky hit .459 with two grand slams among her three home runs and 13 runs batted in in 10 games for the Cougars. She hit safely in nine of the 10 contests with multiple-hit games on six occasions.
Ruskowsky authored both of her grand slams on days that she collected three hits, against Spring Arbor (Mich.) last Thursday and Cornerstone (Mich.) last Friday. She also had a three-RBI game against Spring Arbor to open the week on Monday. She collected 17 hits over the seven days from March 6-12 and boasted a solid .757 slugging percentage.
Saint Xavier (9-7 overall) kicks off the CCAC portion of its schedule on Wednesday, March 22, with a home doubleheader against Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB). The first game of the pair is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at the SXU Softball Field in Chicago.
