CHICAGO - Led by its five seniors on "Senior Night," the Saint Xavier University volleyball team closed out its 2007 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) schedule Tuesday night with a three-game match win (30-28, 30-28, 30-24) over visiting Trinity Christian College (Ill.) at the Shannon Center in Chicago. With the victory, the Cougars finish at 8-1 in the conference standings and will share the CCAC regular season title with the University of St. Francis (Ill.). Not only is this SXU's first CCAC title since 2000, but with a current overall record of 28-12, it is also the Cougars' highest win total since the 2000 squad, a team that finished 36-14 and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament.

Senior middle blocker Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South) posted 13 kills to lead the offensive attack for Saint Xavier in Tuesday night's win. Senior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) set up the offense with a team-best 39 assists. Senior outside hitter Jessica Synowiecki (Oak Lawn, Ill./Moraine Valley CC) finished the match with 10 kills, while senior libero Emily Soto (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Junior College) paced the defense scooping up 14 digs. Senior middle blocker Eileen Carls (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) also had a solid outing in Tuesday's winning effort recording four kills and five digs.

Saint Xavier (28-12 overall, 8-1 CCAC) wraps up its regular season slate on Thursday, November 1, with a road match in Davenport, Iowa, against St. Ambrose University (Iowa). The regular season finale will start at 7 p.m. Thursday.
