CHICAGO – Six players scored in double figures and junior center Brittany Collins (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) logged her Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC)-leading 13th double-double effort as No. 3 ranked Saint Xavier University took down visiting Roosevelt University (Ill.), 103-78, Saturday afternoon in NAIA women's basketball action at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  The Cougars (25-2 overall/16-2 CCAC) posted over 100 points for the ninth time this season, which sets a new season record for the program.  Collins finished the game with 17 points and team-highs of 11 rebounds and five blocks.  Junior guard Kara Krolicki (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) led all scorers with 19 points and a game-high seven assists.

Freshman guard Maddie Welter (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) also had a very productive afternoon knocking down five three-pointers en route to a 17-point performance.  Seniors Mikayla Leyden (Chicago, Ill./Trinity) and Sarah Vozel (Silver Lake, Wis./Ashford University/Wilmot Union) each added 14 points, while freshman guard/forward Chanel Fanter (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) posted 13 points and seven rebounds.  Leyden also finished with five rebounds and game-high five steals.  The Cougars shot 50 percent or better in each of the four quarters Saturday ending the game at an impressive 54 percent (38-for-70).  SXU came out strong jumping out to an early 8-0 lead in the opening seconds.

The Lakers fought back and trimmed the deficit to two (14-12) with 6:08 left to play in the frame, but a three-pointer by Fanter on the other end pushed the lead back up to five.  Leading 32-23 at the end of the opening quarter, SXU continued to put the pressure on going up 39-29 on a lay-up by Vozel with 6:27 to play in the half.  A lay-up by Collins sparked a 10-0 run for the Cougars to end the half and build a 57-37 halftime lead.  Roosevelt started the second half strong cutting the lead to 14 (59-45), but Saint Xavier responded with another big run and led 81-57 after three quarters of play.  SXU pushed its lead as high as 33 points (94-61) in the final frame.

Saint Xavier (25-2 overall/16-2 CCAC) heads to Davenport, Iowa, on Wednesday, February 15, to face off against CCAC North Division foe Saint Ambrose University (Iowa).  The final regular season road game for the Cougars is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at Lee Lohman Arena.
