CHICAGO – Senior outside hitter Sean Barry (Wilmette, Ill./Loyola Academy) recorded 10 kills and two service aces on the night, but it was not enough as the Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team fell to No. 9 Lourdes University (Ohio) in non-conference action Friday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Gray Wolves won in three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-14. The Cougars (2-5 overall/0-2 CCAC) struggled offensively with a .120 attack percentage to go along with 16 attack errors.
Senior outside hitter Dan O'Keefe (Evergreen Park, Ill./Loyola (La.)/St. Rita) posted six kills and a team-high four digs for SXU. Senior setter Moises Lopez (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) finished the match with 20 assists and three block assists for the Cougars, while junior middle blocker Thomas Matonis (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) posted three kills and three block assists. Lourdes was paced by junior outside hitter Colby Magorien, who finished with 10 kills and 14 digs for LU.
Saint Xavier (2-5 overall/0-2 CCAC) goes on the road for a CCAC match with Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) on Tuesday, February 14. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Cardinal Stritch University Field House in Milwaukee.
