Elgin, Ill. – Junior guard Kara Krolicki (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) continued her hot play scoring a game-high 28 points to lead the No. 3 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team to an 87-52 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Judson University (Ill.) Wednesday night at the Lindner Fitness Center in Elgin, Ill. Krolicki shot an impressive 12-for-19 from the field, pulled down six rebounds, came away with four steals and had two assists. The Cougars (24-2 overall/15-2 CCAC) set the program record for three-point field goals made in a season draining eight on the night, giving the team 322 so far this season.
Junior center Brittany Collins (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) had a solid game with 19 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Senior guard Mikayla Leyden (Chicago, Ill./Trinity) scored in double figures as well finishing with 14 points, while hauling in eight rebounds and handing out four assists for the Cougars. Saint Xavier held a 21-15 lead after the first quarter and shot 60.0 percent (12-for-20) in the second quarter to take a 49-29 lead into halftime. SXU continued to shoot well in the third quarter (11-for-20) extending their lead to 74-36. Saint Xavier was tough defensively coming away with 13 steals and blocking nine shots.
Saint Xavier (24-2 overall/15-2 CCAC) comes back home to host Roosevelt University (Ill.) in conference play on Saturday, February 11. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start at the Shannon Center.
