Carpinteria, Calif. – Saint Xavier University junior right tackle Justin Hunter (Crest Hill, Ill./Joliet Catholic) continued to secure national recognition for his play this past season when he was named to the 2016 Victory Sports Network NAIA Football All-American First Team when the honors were announced by the national media organization Monday afternoon.  The 32-player first team recognized 14 offensive players, 14 defensive players and four specialists (placekicker, punter, a punt returner and a kick returner) from across the NAIA.  Hunter garnered one of just six spots for offensive linemen on the first team.

"Justin is a dominant player and has been since day one his freshman year," said SXU football coach Mike Feminis.  "He has started every game of his career and been first team all-conference every year.  To be named All-American as a junior is phenomenal and he certainly deserves it.  I'm just happy we have him for one more season, and at this time next year, he'll probably be compared with the best offensive linemen we've ever had in the program."

Hunter helped the Cougars average 33.0 points and 394.5 yards of total offense a game this past season.  He also earned a spot on the 2016 AFCA-NAIA All-America First Team, as well as the 2016 Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) All-Midwest League First Team and MSFA All-Academic Team.
