Somers, Wis. - Despite 14 kills by junior outside hitter Chelsey Guay (Escanaba, Mich./Escanaba), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team dropped a non-conference road match to NCAA Division II University of Wisconsin-Parkside in four games (31-33, 30-27, 26-30, 29-31) Wednesday night at DeSimone Gymnasium in Somers, Wis. In fact, the Cougars (23-12 overall) have lost only two of its 16 matches since September 25 with both coming against NCAA Division II opponents in Lewis University (Ill.) and University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

In addition to her offensive success, Guay also did well on the defensive side finishing with a team-best 12 total blocks (two solos, 10 assists). Senior middle blocker Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South) posted 12 kills for SXU, while senior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) tallied 40 set assists. Senior libero Emily Soto (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Junior College) led the Cougars with 17 digs.

Saint Xavier (23-12 overall, 7-1 CCAC) will host the NAIA Region VII MCC-CCAC Challenge this weekend with matches starting on Friday, October 26, at 2 p.m. SXU opens the event with a 2 p.m. match against Ashford University (Iowa) at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
