CHICAGO – Saint Xavier University senior Kamil Szczesniak (Skomielna Biala, Poland/Reavis) was named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division Men's Soccer Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) when the honor was released by the national organization Thursday morning.  Szczesniak was one of just 11 players nationally represented on the second team and one of just 22 total men's soccer players nationwide to make up the College Division within the first and second teams.  Szczesniak is a biology (Pre-Health) major who carries a 3.80 cumulative grade-point average (GPA).  The CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division soccer teams (first and second teams) are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.

Szczesniak finished the 2016 season second on the team in goals scored (4), shots on goal (16) and total points (8).  He was a starter in 17 of SXU's 19 games this fall and had one of his best outings of the year when he scored two goals in a 3-2 home win over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Judson University (Ill.) back on October 1.  Last season, Szczesniak was honored by the NAIA as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.  To be eligible for consideration for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division Men's Soccer Team, student-athletes must possess at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, be sophomore or higher academic status with one full year at nominating institution and have played at least 50 percent of the team's games for the current season with supporting statistics.

Saint Xavier finished the 2016 season with a 5-10-4 overall record.  The Cougars placed sixth overall in the final CCAC standings with a 5-4-3 conference mark and qualified for the first round of the CCAC Men's Soccer Tournament.
