Bourbonnais, Ill. - Behind 14 points apiece from senior guard Angie Brown (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) and junior forward Jackie Heine (Hampshire, Ill./Hannibal-LaGrange), No. 10 Saint Xavier University pulled away in the second half to defeat Taylor University (Ind.), 71-59, in NAIA women's basketball action Saturday in the second and final day of the CCAC Challenge hosted by Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Ill. The Cougars (9-1 overall) racked up 17 steals in the winning effort, their fifth straight victory this season.

Senior guard Candis Jackson (Chicago Ill./Whitney Young) also scored in double figures for SXU with 11 points in addition to her four assists and three steals. Junior guard Sarah Wilson (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) finished with nine points off a trio of three-point baskets, while junior forward Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South) provided a lift off the bench with six points and a team-high of seven rebounds. Senior guard Dani Engleman (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) did a solid job of getting her teammates involved in the scoring with a game-high eight assists. Katie Madden, who finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, led Taylor.

Saint Xavier (9-1 overall) heads to the Virgin Islands next weekend to take part in a three-day tournament. The Cougars open up against Aquinas College (Mich.) on Sunday, December 17, at 4 p.m. (eastern).
