Olathe, Kan. - The Saint Xavier University softball team had seniors Jory Bodi (Richmond, Ill./Richmond-Burton), Marie Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic), and Nicole Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) in addition to junior Holly Kennedy (Bloomington, Ill./University) all recognized as 2007 Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar-Athletes when the national office released the names in conjunction with the 2007 NAIA Softball National Championship Tournament, which is taking place this week in Decatur, Ala. Bodi played first base for the Cougars, while the Barkers and Kennedy saw action in the outfield this past spring.
To be named a Daktronics-NAIA Softball Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 grade-point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale and be at least a junior in academic standing with one full academic year completed at the nominating institution. The NAIA Softball All-America squads is scheduled for release during the NAIA Softball Championship game, which will take place Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. central time.
