Louisville, Ky. - Saint Xavier University freshman Amy Poull (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) wrapped up her first season as a collegiate runner by finishing 159th overall in the women's field of 266 participants at the 2006 NAIA Cross Country National Championships Saturday at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky. Poull finished the 5,000-meter course (5K) with a time of 20:00 and became the first female Cougar to qualify and participate at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships since 2001. "Amy had a great performance at the national meet and a wonderful season," said SXU women's cross country coach Lisa Ebel. "Considering that this is the first season that she has ever run cross country, I'm thrilled by her race and the improvements she has made throughout the season. We have created a solid pack of four strong freshmen this year and I think that our future looks exceedingly bright." Poull was also named to the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) All-Conference and NAIA All-Region VII squads earlier this fall. The Cougars finished second overall at the CCAC meet and tied for fourth as a team at the NAIA Region VII meet.
