Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior forward Lissa Coby (Ingleside, Ill./Grant Community) was named the 2007 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Year Friday to highlight seven of its players named to the 2007 All-CCAC Women's Soccer Team. In addition to Coby, senior defender Cassie Rumpf (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central), junior defender Britney Kendzora (Lemont, Ill./Lemont), freshman defender Nikki Gendron (Rockford, Ill./Rockford), and sophomore goalkeeper Danielle Wagner (Worth, Ill./University of Illinois) all received first team honors, while senior midfielder Alana LoPresti (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) and junior midfielder Sarah Scigalski (Alsip, Ill./Mother McAuley) garnered honorable mention recognition. Saint Xavier University coach Derek Begich was also named the 2007 CCAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year.

Coby leads the team in scoring with 17 goals, 12 assists and 46 total points. She is also SXU's all-time leading scorer with 74 goals, 60 assists and 208 total points. Wagner has 17 starts in goal this season and has 85 saves and a 0.718 goal-against average, including seven shutouts. Rumpf, Kendzora, and Gendron have anchored a Saint Xavier defense that has allowed just 12 goals over the first 18 games and blanked seven opponents this season. In the midfield, LoPresti and Scigalski have had a solid season thus far with LoPresti recording five goals and two assists for 12 points and Scigalski posting five goals and three assists for 13 points. Saint Xavier (15-3-1 overall/8-1 CCAC) will host a semifinals game in the 2007 CCAC Women's Soccer Tournament on Wednesday, October 24, against the winner of today's No. 4 seed Judson College (Ill.) and No. 5 seed Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) match-up. The semifinals game will be played at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
