Whiting, Ind. - Behind a goal in the 27th minute by freshman defender Ernad Dzananovic (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem), the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team held off Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) for a 1-0 victory Tuesday in Whiting, Ind. In addition, sophomore goalkeeper Ian Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) recorded three saves and earned his third shutout of the season in Tuesday's victory.

Dzananovic was able to break free on the right side, received a pass from sophomore midfielder Melchor Castro (Chicago, Ill./Saint Patrick), and split a couple of defenders to get into position for his game-winning shot. The Cougar defense also played well Tuesday limiting Calumet College of St. Joseph to just three shots on goal in the game.

Saint Xavier (7-8 overall/6-2 CCAC) wraps up its 2007 CCAC slate on Friday, October 19, with a road game against Trinity Christian College (Ill.). The Friday game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start in Palos Heights, Ill.
