CHICAGO - Junior outside hitter Jessica Synowiecki (Oak Lawn, Ill./Moraine Valley CC) had 15 kills to help lead the No. 3 seeded Saint Xavier University volleyball team to a three-game match win 30-21, 30-9, 30-25 over No. 6 seed Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) in the quarterfinals of the 2006 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Volleyball Tournament Tuesday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars advance to the semifinals on Thursday, November 9, where they will face the winner of tonight's No. 2 seed Trinity International University (Ill.) and No. 7 seed Judson College (Ill.) match.
Junior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) had a solid all-around performance with 38 assists, 11 digs, and three service aces. Senior outside hitter Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) posted 11 kills, while senior outside hitter Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace). The Cougars finished the match with 12 total blocks.
Saint Xavier (23-18 overall/7-2 CCAC) takes the No. 3 seed into the CCAC semifinals and will face the winner of Tuesday's No. 2 seed Trinity International and No. 7 seed Judson match-up. Thursday's semifinals match will be played at the higher seed's home site at 7:30 p.m.
