CHICAGO - Amy Fairchild, a senior catcher at Crown Point High School in Crown Point, Ind., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar softball program. The Crown Point native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2008 and will compete for playing time during the 2009 season.
Fairchild is the daughter of Stephen and Michelle Fairchild. She is currently coached by Brett Crutchfield at Crown Point High School. Fairchild is looking to pursue a degree in biology next year at Saint Xavier University.
"Amy is a strong defensive catcher with a good bat," said Saint Xavier University head softball coach Myra Minuskin. "She is also a student of the game and a great fit for our program."
