CHICAGO - Behind team-bests of 10 kills and nine digs by senior middle blocker Eileen Carls (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team defeated visiting Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Tuesday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (13-10 overall, 5-1 CCAC) won the match in three straight games 30-12, 30-10, 30-13 and now sit in third place in the conference standings with a 5-1 mark.

Senior libero Emily Soto (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Junior College) also played well in Tuesday's victory recording five service aces and nine digs as well. Senior middle blocker Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South) posted eight kills in the winning effort, while senior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) dished out a team-high 27 assists. As a team, the Cougars totaled 12 service aces in the match.

Saint Xavier (13-10 overall, 5-1 CCAC) heads to Bourbonnais, Ill., this weekend to play in the Olivet Nazarene University Volleyball Tournament. The Cougars kick off the event with its first of four weekend matches on Friday, October 12, against Embry-Riddle University (Ariz.) at 3 p.m.
