CHICAGO - Sophomore goalkeeper Danielle Wagner (Worth, Ill./University of Illinois/Stagg) notched her sixth shutout of the season as No. 15 Saint Xavier University earned a 4-0 win over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival Robert Morris College (Ill.) in women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. In addition to Wagner's stellar play, senior forward Lissa Coby (Ingleside, Ill./Grant Community) finished Tuesday's game with two goals and an assist. The Cougars improve to 13-1 overall and a league-leading 7-1 in conference play with the victory. Coby got the scoring started with a goal in the 15th minute of play off assists from freshman forward Kelly Steinhaus (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) and sophomore midfielder Jessica Martinez (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg), respectively. In the 28th minute, SXU went ahead 2-0 when junior midfielder Sarah Scigalski (Alsip, Ill./Mother McAuley) found the back of the net off a pass from Coby. A little over five minutes later, the Cougars struck again when Coby notched her second goal of the game off an assist from senior midfielder Alana LoPresti (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South). Leading 3-0 at the half, SXU added its final goal of the game just eight minutes into the second half when Steinhaus scored off a pass from senior defender Cassie Rumpf (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central). Wagner finished the game with six saves en route to the shutout.
Saint Xavier (13-1 overall/7-1 CCAC) takes a break from its conference slate to take on No. 3 ranked Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) on Thursday, October 11, in Bensenville, Ill. The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
