CHICAGO - Led by two goals by sophomore forward Zach Kekelik (Merrillville, Ind./Crown Point), the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team earned its third straight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) win Tuesday with a 4-0 victory over visiting Robert Morris College (Ill.) at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. The Cougars (6-6 overall/5-2 CCAC) have won five of their last six matches and evened their overall record at 6-6 after a 1-5 start. SXU also now sits in third place (5-2) in the conference standings after Tuesday's victory.
Senior defender Tim Kopec (Orland Park, Ill./Moraine Valley CC) kicked off the scoring for Saint Xavier in the 11th minute when he was able to score unassisted after intercepting a cleared ball following a corner kick. Kekelik scored the first of his pair of goals in the 21st minute of play when he punched in a pass from senior forward Alex Duncan (Orland Park, Ill./Moraine Valley CC). Just over a minute later, Duncan got a goal of his own when he scored off an assist from senior forward Sinisa Vidakovic (Loves Park, Ill./Rockford College). Junior goalkeeper James Kline (Canton, Ohio/Perry) earned his first shutout of the season finishing with six saves for SXU.
