Women's Soccer - Thu, Oct. 4, 2007
Kansas City, Mo. - Saint Xavier University senior forward Lissa Coby (Ingleside, Ill./Grant Community) was named the NAIA Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 30 when the honor was released by the NAIA national office late Wednesday. It is the first time a SXU women's soccer player has received the weekly national honor this season and the second time Coby has received the recognition (2006 & 2007) in her four-year career. She is also the only SXU women's soccer player to earn national player of the week honors in the 11-year history of the program.

"Lissa is a special type of player and is very deserving of all the awards and accolades she receives," said Saint Xavier women's soccer coach Derek Begich. "She is a huge reason for our success this season and has had an outstanding four-year collegiate career. She definitely helps set the tone for our offense."

Coby played a vital role in the Cougars' pair of league game wins last week by totaling two goals and four assists. She registered three assists in a 5-0 road win versus Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) then followed that performance by notching two goals and an assist on the game-winning goal in a 4-1 victory over Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). Coby is SXU's leading scorer with 12 goals, nine assists and 33 total points and has been awarded the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Offensive Player of the Week honors three times this season.

Saint Xavier (11-1 overall/5-1 CCAC) heads to Deerfield, Ill., on Saturday, October 6, to face CCAC foe and league-leading Trinity International University (Ill.). The game is scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. start.
