South Bend, Ind. - The Cougars traveled to South Bend on Friday and placed 30th out of 31 teams overall and 20th out of the 21 Division II teams competing in the National Catholic Cross Country Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame.

Senior Grace Patino (Aurora, Ill/Aurora West) again spearheaded the Cougars finishing first of her teammates with a time of 21:54 (No. 175). Others finishing in the top three for the Cougars were senior Susan Bansley (Chicago, Ill/Mother McAuley) and junior Christine Schmidt (Chicago, Ill/Moraine Valley CC) with times of 22:08 (No. 181) and 22:43 (No. 203), respectively.

Senior Laura Dignan (Chicago, Ill/Mother McAuley) finished next for the Cougars in 22:56 (No. 210). Other finishers for Saint Xavier included: senior Jessica Bertalmio (Chicago, Ill/Rich East), sophomore Jessica Mossuto (Oak Forest, Ill/Oak Forest), and junior Diana Flerick (Palos Heights, Ill/Moraine Valley CC) in times of 24:39 (No. 240), 24:56 (No. 243) and 25:38 (No. 248), respectively.
