CHICAGO - Ashley Hunter, a senior utility player at Metamora High School in Metamora, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar softball program. The Metamora native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2008 and will compete for playing time during the 2009 season.
Hunter is the daughter of Doug and Brenda Hunter. She is currently coached by Deric Linder at Metamora High School. Hunter is looking to pursue a degree in biology (pre-med) next year at Saint Xavier University.
"Ashley is an incredibly versatile athlete, who can play just about any position on the field," said Saint Xavier University head softball coach Myra Minuskin. "She is an outstanding hitter and should have an immediate impact on our program."
