Olathe, Kan. - Saint Xavier University junior forward Lissa Coby (Lake Villa, Ill./Grant Community) was named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, October 22, when the national office in Olathe, Kan., released the honor Wednesday. Coby led the No. 15 ranked Cougars to two big wins over Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) and Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), respectively, last week.
Coby helped the Cougars go 2-0 on the week. She had four goals in a 9-0 win over Calumet last Wednesday and a goal and four assists in a 5-1 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament victory over IIT on Saturday, October 21. She currently leads the Cougars in goals with 15 as well as assists with 14. Coby also earned CCAC and NAIA Region VII Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors earlier this week for her outstanding individual performance. Saint Xavier (15-3 overall/7-2 CCAC) is currently playing Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in the semi-finals of the 2006 CCAC Women's Soccer Tournament at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. A victory Wednesday would put No. 2 seeded SXU in the championship game against either No. 1 seed Robert Morris College (Ill.) or No. 5 seed Trinity International University (Ill.) on Saturday, October 28.View the NAIA National Player of the Week page
