CHICAGO – Freshman guard Kara Krolicki (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) and senior guard Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) combined for 61 points in guiding No. 4 ranked Saint Xavier University to a thrilling 105-97 victory over Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's basketball action Saturday afternoon  at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  The Cougars (17-2 overall/8-0 CCAC) trailed by seven points (84-77) with 5:31 left to play and closed out the game on a 28-13 run for their sixth straight victory.  Krolicki hit a new career-best scoring mark with her 31 points, while Broski tied her career-high single game scoring total with 30 points Saturday.  It is the first time in program history that SXU has scored 100 or more points in three straight games.

Senior forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) had a huge all-around game posting 16 points, 19 rebounds, seven assists and six steals.  Sophomore guard Mikayla Leyden (Chicago, Ill./Trinity) also played well for the Cougars with nine points, a career-best 10 assists and four steals; while junior center Caitlin McMahon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) chipped in 11 rebounds and game-best four blocks.  Junior guard Abbey Hengesbach and freshman guard Kaira Barnes each scored 14 points to lead Olivet Nazarene in scoring.

The game was tight early on with neither team able to build more than a six-point lead and the score knotted at 26-26 midway through the first half.  A lay-up by Broski capped a 12-2 run by the Cougars late in the first half to give the hosts a 44-33 edge.  SXU held the double-digit lead until the two-minute mark of the half and then the Tigers ended the frame in a flurry scoring 11 unanswered points to tie things up at 50-50 at the break.  The Cougars led by five points multiple times early in the second half, but went cold for a three-minute spell midway through the frame and ONU took advantage with a 13-2 run to build a 76-70 lead.  Olivet pushed the lead up to as many as seven points before Saint Xavier made its move.  A three-pointer by Stuut near the five-minute mark of the period sparked a 7-0 surge that tied the game at 84-84.  Three-pointers by Broski and Krolicki down the stretch helped SXU pull away in the final four minutes to seal the eight-point victory.

Saint Xavier (17-2 overall/8-0 CCAC) continues conference play on Wednesday, January 21, heading to Whiting, Ind., to take on Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.).  The road game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start.
