CHICAGO - Behind two goals and an assist by senior forward Lissa Coby (Ingleside, Ill./Grant Community), the No. 15 ranked Saint Xavier University women's soccer team picked up a 4-1 victory over visiting Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Saturday at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. The Cougars improve to 10-1 overall this season and 4-1 in the CCAC standings, while the Scarlet Hawks fall to 8-4 overall and 1-3 in the league.

Coby gave SXU an early lead in the game's 15th minute when she scored off an assist from freshman forward Kelly Steinhaus (Lemont, Ill./Lemont). In the 35th minute, the Cougars added to their lead going up 2-0 off a goal from junior defender Britney Kendzora (Lemont, Ill./Lemont). Coby provided the assist on the Kendzora goal. With just seconds to play in the first half, IIT scored its first goal when junior forward Julie Campana found the back of the net off a pass from freshman midfielder Emily Kunkel.

Leading 2-1 at halftime, the Saint Xavier offense came out firing in the second half. Coby scored just three minutes into the second period off assists from freshman defender Katie DuPree (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) and sophomore midfielder Jessica Martinez (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg), respectively. With a minute to play in regulation, senior midfielder Aleks Sudar (Omaha, Neb./Omaha Bryan) added the Cougars' fourth and final goal of the game off an assist from Martinez. Sophomore goalkeeper Danielle Wagner (Worth, Ill./University of Illinois/Stagg) played the entire game in goal and finished with four saves for Saint Xavier.

SXU (10-1 overall/4-1 CCAC) continues its conference home stand with a game against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on Wednesday, October 3. The game is slated for a 4 p.m. start at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
