Elgin, Ill. - Behind 14 kills apiece by senior outside hitter Jessica Synowiecki (Oak Lawn, Ill./Moraine Valley CC) and junior outside hitter Chelsey Guay (Escanaba, Mich./Escanaba), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team improved its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) record to 2-1 with a road victory over Judson University (Ill.) Tuesday night in Elgin, Ill. The Cougars (9-6 overall/2-1 CCAC) dropped the first game of the match 28-30, but rebounded to take the next three games 30-25, 32-30, 30-21.

Senior middle blocker Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South) and junior right side Laura Gullickson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara) each played well in the win each finishing with 13 kills. Senior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) finished with 48 assists and three service aces, while senior middle blocker Eileen Carls (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) led the team defensively with 17 digs.

Saint Xavier (9-6 overall/2-1 CCAC) will make the trip to Fort Wayne, Ind., this weekend to participate in the two-day Indiana Institute of Technology (Ind.) Volleyball Tournament beginning on Friday, September 21. The Cougars open with a 5 p.m. (eastern) match against Taylor University (Ind.).
