Des Moines, Iowa - Freshman goalkeeper Ian Pickett (Mokena, Ill./Providence Catholic) finished with 10 saves, but it was not enough as the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team fell 3-0 to No. 20 ranked Grand View College (Iowa) Friday night in Des Moines, Iowa. The Cougars fall to 0-2 this season with the loss.

Grand View scored the game's first goal in the 27th minute when sophomore midfielder Marcus Dawson found the back of the net off an assist from junior midfielder Jordan Carver. The Vikings struck again just four minutes later on an unassisted goal by junior forward Ernad Jaskic. With a 2-0 lead at halftime, Grand View got some added insurance exactly six minutes into the second half when Carver scored his second goal of the game off an assist from senior defender Chris Conway. GVC outshot the Cougars, 24-10, in the game.

Saint Xavier returns home on Wednesday, September 6, to take on St. Ambrose University (Iowa) at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
